If you hate your job, then it’s a complete waste of your life.
My most popular video on Facebook covers this topic and there are so many contradicting opinions. I’d love to know yours after you’ve read what I’ve got to say.
We spend most of our life working and I’m not saying that we spend 45 years at a job, I’m talking about the amount of hours in our life. There is nothing else that We spend most of our lives working. There is nothing else that takes up so much of our time and so it’s extremely worrying when I hear that 85% of US citizens don’t enjoy what they do. Those statistics are still good in comparison to 94% in China and Japan.
People don’t love what they do, yet they spend the majority of their lives doing it. For what? So that they can retire at the age of 65 and then only begin living their lives?
Why are you working at a job that you hate for most of your life in the hope that when you retire, your real-life will start?
Many people still aren’t able to retire at that age, not only that but if you’ve made it to the age of 65, then only between 61-70% of people will make it to the age of 80.
So how many years have you got from when you retire to do all things that you’ve wanted to do?
So quit…
And if that scares you, I’m not saying quit right now.
I know that you’ve got bills, a mortgage, kids and so I’m not telling you to put yourself in terrible financial strain, but begin to think about what it is that you want to do. If you dread Mondays, then you hate your job and so isn’t it better to perhaps get a little less income to have a lot more happiness and energy?
Not only for yourself but for the people around you. If you stay in a job that you hate, your kids will likely do the same. They’ll see mom and dad coming home with no energy and spending weekends in front of the tv instead of enjoying themselves because they’re too tired to do anything else, They’ll likely work in a job that they hate despite you wanting them to be happy because that’s what they’ve been taught to believe their whole lives.

The best that we know is that we only get one life. Maybe there’s reincarnation, maybe there’s not. I’m not smart enough to know as I’ve never died to see what it’s like on the other side…not that I know of. And so if you’re not living a 100% fulfilled life and you hate what you do, it’s a waste. You weren’t born to pay the bills and die. You were born to thrive and live this life with as much joy, passion, and love as you possibly can.
So it’s okay to stay where you are right now, but it’s not okay to continue slaving away to keep up with the Jones’s for the rest of your life. Reprogramming your brain is as scary as hell, but isn’t it worth living a life that you love?
